WinHex: A complex Forensics & Data Recovery application with Hex & Disk editing capabilities

WinHex is a full-featured Hex editor, that lets you view and work with binary data of any file format. The application relies on the hexadecimal system to display data using two-digit numbers, allowing you to modify the value of practically any bite, by editing them in hexadecimal mode.

A large number of partition types are supported, such as FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, UDF, CDFS, Next3 and Ext2/3/4. The application’s disk editing functions let you inspect and recover deleted, lost or corrupt data from most media types like HDDs, floppy disks, Compact Flash, CD/DVD-ROM drives, ZIP, Smart Media and others.

WinHex offers a RAM editor that lets you access your system’s physical RAM and the virtual memory your open processes are using.

Furthermore you can use it to calculate checksums and hashes, perform conversions between binary, hex ASCII, Intel Hex and Motorola S and view several character sets such as ANSI and IBM ASCII, Unicode and EBCDIC.

The application includes a Data interpreter which you can use to read a variety of data types which include dynamic disks and RAID systems. You can speed up repetitive tasks by using WinHex’s automation capabilities for several file editing procedures via scripts.
