WordWeb: Free English thesaurus and dictionary

WordWeb is a complex English thesaurus and dictionary for Windows operating systems that enables one-click look up of word definitions, synonyms and related words from within almost all applications.

WordWeb also provides written and audio pronunciations, usage examples and if you are online you can check various web references.

The program is much more complex than the classic paper dictionary. Every set of synonyms is linked to other related sets. For example, if you look up the word “tree” and click on the Types tab, it will display a list of different types of tree. If you click on “Part of”, the program will tell you that a “tree” can be a part of a “wood” or a “forest”.
