With so many Pokémon waiting to be collected, you’re probably striving for the complete collection which is no easy task. There are a few things to keep in mind if you’re looking to get rare and epic Pokémon.
Firstly, there’s no official rarity list in Pokémon Go. Any list you will find online is made from player experience, and not something that the game would present as official. But yes, there are rare and epic Pokémon because let’s face it – you’re probably going to be very happy when you find a Ditto, right?
How to get rare and epic Pokémon
Before we begin, consider checking out our list of Pokémon Go tips and tricks which will help you make the most of the game in more ways than one.
Don’t expect to find too many types of Pokémon in a single area – usually, there are no more than two types so this alone will make you walk more to find them. But there are other things to keep in mind if you’re trying to get rare and epic Pokémon.
Gain more experience levels
Yes, Pokémon Go will spawn more rare Pokémon the higher your level is so you should be focused on gaining experience for a good while even if it can be very time-consuming. After all, you can’t get everything at level 1.
Go to a populated area with many Pokéstops
Such areas typically have lots of Pokémons and the more Pokémons, the higher the chances some of them will be rare. Of course, it gets even better if you or someone else activates a Lure Module.
Another method is to use a Lure Module yourself in a location you never visited before – this appears to work for some players and it’s worth a try.
Collect 10K eggs
Yes, you need to walk 10 kilometers to hatch a 10k egg but you can be sure it has a significantly higher chance of getting you rare and epic Pokémon compared to 2K and 5K eggs.
And if you’re a lazy couch potato you should know there are ways to hatch eggs without walking in Pokémon Go. 5k eggs are not too bad either, so you should definitely hatch those as well.
How to catch rare Pokémon
The Pokémon with orange or red rings can be difficult to catch, so you see, it’s not just about finding rare or epic Pokémon. Once you do, you also need to catch them.
If those pesky Pokémon refuse to stay in their Pokéballs, there are a few things you can do to capture them:
- You might need to capture a Pokémon a few times. There’s a risk it will run away, but most of the times using up more Pokéballs will help you capture it.
- Ensure you throw the ball when the ring is the smallest. This is all about perfect timing.
- After you reach level 7, you can feed the Pokémon a Razz Berry which will make it more obedient and increase the chances of it remaining inside a Pokéball.
- Starting with level 10, you will probably need to get better Pokéballs in order to catch high-level Pokémon.
