BOINC
7.24.1BOINC: A data computing platform that uses your computer’s resources while idle to compute and research data for a wide range of science areas
The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing, BOINC for short is a powerful computing engine capable of handling various research, science, business and personal projects by using computer resources to process this data. The program will use your machine’s resources while the CPU is idle for a large number of projects in the fields of chemistry, mathematics, physics, software testing, climate study and many others.
BOINC Manager lets you monitor the projects you’re volunteering for, displaying their progress rate and status. You can use the tool to chat with your team members, sort tasks and view new ones, update, remove and cancel commands, as well as view shared resources.
You can set the client to run continuously, but it’s also possible to configure its access to your computer’s resources. This way, you can choose how and when it will use your system’s processor, how much disk space it can take, and when should the app be active.
What’s more, you can use BOINC to run CPU performance tests or close connected clients, plus it can have multiple instances (each with its own setup) open at the same time.
