Texmaker: A reliable text editing application equipped with various tools for developing documents with LaTeX

Texmaker is a free application that lets you easily develop documents with LaTeX as it bundles a robust set of tools needed for this purpose. The program offers various editing features you’ll find incredibly useful such as spell checking, code folding, support for Unicode, auto-completion, an integrated PDF viewer and more.

It allows you to write LaTeX source files and makes this task easier thanks to functions like search & replace, undo/redo and syntax highlighting among others. Users can add Core LaTeX tags from the LaTex and Math menus as well as use hundreds of mathematical symbols.

Generating code is incredibly fast as Texmaker offers wizards for this purpose and there are several types included, like Quick letter, tabular, Quick document and array environments. The Tools menu offers a number of LaTeX related third-party application which you can directly open from there.

Document navigation is made easier through the ‘structure view’ – simply click on an element in the Structure frame to go directly to that portion of the document. Texmaker includes comprehensive LaTeX documentation and generates a logfile where you can view detailed information regarding processes.

Finally, it offers commands to browse through errors saved in the log file, and if you click on the number of a log file entry it will reposition the mouse cursor to the corresponding line in the editor.
