TamoGraph Site Survey

8.1 Build 281

TamoGraph Site Survey: A utility for generating maps of wireless networks’ signal strength supporting 802.11a/b/g/n standards

Wireless networks are used at home by many people these days as it’s the easiest way to keep all devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones connected to the Internet. The signal strength depends on various factors and one of them is the wireless adapter.

TamoGraph Site Survey is a reliable application that can analyze and evaluate the status of 802.11 a/b/g/n WiFi networks. For the tool to work properly it needs to accurately detect the type of wireless adapter. If it fails to detect a compatible one, you’ll have to download its correct drivers and initiate the scanning process one more time.

Then you’ll have to create a new project and add some information like the type of building the WiFi is present, which can be indoor or outdoor, with high, medium or low attenuation, and the type of measurement unit you want the program to use.

To continue, you’ll need to load the map of the building – you can also use an online map for this purpose. However, you should make sure it’s accurate and not outdated to get relevant analysis results. In the main window of the app you can calibrate the map you previously loaded and then start a passive or active survey which will discover the areas of your building where the WiFi signal is not strong enough.

TamoGraph Site Survey offers two different visualization types, specifically passive or active surveys. The first one shows the AP coverage areas, signal level, number of APs, signal-to-noise ratios and channel bandwidth, while the second type shows the TCP upstream or downstream rates, actual PHY rate and round-trip time or associated AP.
