Buttercup
2.25.0Buttercup: Securely store and organize all your passwords with multi-platform support
In this day and age, we all have multiple accounts on a multitude of services and social networks. It's almost impossible to keep track of all these accounts unless you're using the same password for everything, which is basically an invitation to be hacked.Enter Buttercup, an open-source password manager for Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, and Android. The application will store all your accounts, passwords included, for login securely on any online service, if needed. You don't need to remember your passwords anymore and due to its portability, it can be accessed via a USB drive, if you desire.
If you're thinking about security, Buttercup will encrypt your account vault using a 256bit AES algorithm, which translates "your personal data is extremely secure". After launching it, Buttercup will ask for a master password to access your vault. That's the only password you'll need to remember from now on and it's valid with any cloud or local password manager. Speaking of, Buttercup is a local application, so if you worry about your data being in the cloud, this may be considered as an extra feature.
While Buttercup is not the most good looking or feature-packed password manager in the market, the fact that it runs only on your computer and being open-source makes it a very powerful piece of software that can only be improved as time goes on.
