Icon Shepherd: Easily restore the original position of your desktop icons

Icon Shepherd is a small and lightweight piece of software that can quickly restore your desktop icons to their initial position.

It runs in the taskbar, constantly monitoring the position of your desktop icons. It’s worth mentioning that Icon Sheperd won’t be able to rearrange the icons unless you disable the option called “Auto arrange icons” which can be accessed by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting “View” from the context menu.

With the app installed and running, make sure the icons on the desktop are arranged as you prefer then click on the program’s icon in the taskbar and select “Remember icons now” from the menu. This will take a “snapshot” of your desktop layout.

Whenever you need to restore icons to one of the remembered layouts, click on Icon’s Shepperd’s icon again, select the “Restore icons” option, and select a snapshot.
