A friendly GUI for Redshift, the well-known screen temperature adjustment application

Redshift is a popular command-line application that allows you to easily adjust the screen temperature and Redshift Tray is a simple GUI for this program.

Since Redshift is a command-line tool, it’s not exactly novice friendly. For this reason, Redshift Tray was developed – to offer users an intuitive GUI that can run unobtrusively in the system tray.

Adjusting the screen temperature allows you to shift it towards the red side of the spectrum, warming up the colors and making them similar to the natural ambient light provided by the sun. Reducing blue light emissions is particularly useful after sundown as exposure to blue light typically emitted by screens can interrupt regular sleep patterns.

After you run Redshift Tray, you can simply double-click the system tray icon to quickly enable or disable the screen color adjustment. Furthermore, the service can be paused for a specific time interval in minutes or you can force the full nighttime adjustment at any moment during the day.
