The Leatherworking profession in Classic WoW lets the player create leather-based armor and items. The crafting profession is best paired with Skinning as it provides a constant flow of materials to level it. It’s worth noting that even if the profession allows you to create leather items, there are some exceptions such as Blue Dragonscale Leggings (which is mail armor), Onyxia Scale Cloak or Core Armor Kit used for tanks to increase the defense value of their chest, hands, legs or feet armor.

Unlike most crafting professions, Leatherworking has a choice of 3 specializations:
- Dragonscale Leatherworking – lets the player craft more mail-based gear
- Tribal Leatherworking – agility and intellect-based leather gear such as the Devilsaur Armor set.
- Elemental Leatherworking – allows the crafting of leather gear with elemental resistances

10 x Light Hide + 10 x Salt = 10 x Cured Light Hide
Level 55 – 135
135 x Light Leather + 90 x Coarse Thread = 45 x Embossed Leather Gloves
20 x Salt + 20 x Medium Hide = 20 x Cured Medium Hide
At this point, you should head to your Leatherworking trainer to learn Expert Leatherworking.
