MTF mapper: Generate MTF maps from regular photos with this powerful application

MTF mapper is a functional application that allows you to use regular images in order to generate MTF maps with the possibility to tweak SLR autofocus functions.

With this program, you can easily measure Modulation Transfer Function values across edges in source photos which can be almost any format from the popular JPG, PNG and BMP to RAW, ARW, PEF and NEF.

After you load a photo into the app, it will be automatically converted to 16-bit grayscale form. Then, the program will process the boundary lists of all dark objects detected in the image, and calculate MTF50 values for the edges of rectangular objects using complex algorithms.

Using the analysis results, MTF mapper will generate a number of MTF charts, 3D surface graphics included. The process requires almost no interaction from the user’s part as it is almost fully automated and no setup or option customization is needed.

However, you can use various additional tools such as perspective and rectangle chart generators as they offer a functional solution for calibrating the autofocus of almost any DSLR device.
